Historic Development of Cumberland County and Preserving it’s Character

The Cumberland County Planning Department and Historical Society are offering a workshop highlighting the County’s history and identifying preservation opportunities. The training session identifies historical events that influenced the County’s growth and their impacts on Pennsylvania and the nation. Current strategies to preserve the historic character of Cumberland County will be discussed.

The workshop is scheduled for 3:00 pm, September 27, 2018 and will be held at the Cumberland County Historical Society, 21 North Pitt Street, Carlisle, PA. The workshop is free and will be approximately 1 ½ hours. Jeff Kelly will discuss historic events and the County Planning Department’s preservation initiatives. Lindsay Houpt-Varner will discuss the Historical Society’s Preservation Plan and Preservation Opportunities Watch List, which highlights endangered historic landmarks.
