Join CAEDC, the United Way, local educators, employers, Cumberland County’s federal, state and local delegation to discuss workforce development initiatives around heavy equipment/construction.
CAEDC has been working with Cumberland Valley School District, Cumberland Perry Area Vocational Technical School, Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), and local employers to put together curriculum for career paths in high demand areas including Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing and Heavy Equipment. The first program we would like to put in place is heavy equipment operator. We are facing a labor shortage because of the County’s growing infrastructure needs, aging population, and lack of interest by entrants in these middle skilled occupations. All the while, employers have growing concerns in these fields about not being able to find workers.
