CAEDC Funds New Sweet Frog Location in Carlisle

CARLISLE, PA (August 1, 2013) – Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation (CAEDC) is pleased to announce the financing of a new Sweet Frog location store located in the Carlisle Commons Shopping Center in Carlisle, PA. Sweet Frog is planning to bring the first self-service premium frozen yogurt to the Carlisle market. The store’s offerings will be numerous flavors of frozen yogurt and a vast selection of toppings, which enable customers to create their own dessert. The owners, John and Sherry Babinchak, are planning to create a bright, clean, fun place in order to create a large loyal customer base, which will see Sweet Frog frozen yogurt as a high-class yet affordable store, with prestigious product offerings. The store will offer 14 flavors each day from a total of 50 different choices, which will rotate from time to time.
The Sweet Frog franchise was established in 2009 by Derek Cha and his wife Annah Kim. Headquartered in Richmond, VA, Sweet Frog and has grown tremendously since 2009 now having 260 stores in 23 states and international locations in the United Kingdom and Dominican Republic.
“The frozen yogurt concept originated from the West Coast. Sweet Frog has done a tremendous job bringing this concept to the East Coast as it has continued to grow at a rapid pace. Carlisle is a great market for this type of concept and we enjoyed working with CAEDC and Metro Bank on this project. Both provided flexible terms and low interest to allow us to enjoy life after retirement”, stated John and Sherry Babinchak.
Sweet Frog of Carlisle plans to open late August or early September of 2013. Their space is currently under construction.

The frozen yogurt concept that Sweet Frog provides will be a great asset to the Carlisle community and many residents and employees of the area, such as me, are excited for their arrival”, stated Jonathan Bowser, Director of Economic Development for CAEDC.
CAEDC has partnered with Metro Bank for the financing of this project. Total investment of this project is in excess of $400,000 which is being used to acquire the franchise and make improvements to the space. This new business venture will create 3 full-time jobs and approximately 8 part-time jobs.
