Mechanicsburg, Pa (October 30, 2024) –
Through the Statewide Local Share Account (LSA), the Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation (CAEDC) received funding for four projects in Cumberland County, totaling $1,457,687. The four grant projects awarded are:
· $101,840 for the Cumberland Valley Preservation Society for the Junkin House
o The Junkin House, one of the oldest structures in Cumberland County, will utilize the funding to install a new driveway, parking lot, and underground stormwater piping. The Junkin House will also be home to the New Kingstown Vision, a Silver Spring Township committee, supporting their continuing efforts to preserve the history of the town at the bottom of the hill.
· $575,000 for Link 4 Youth Elevating Communities Skatepark Project
o The project will acquire and renovate the property on Drexel Hills Boulevard in New Cumberland Borough to increase services to at risk youth and create a novel recreational opportunity in the region.
· $457,466 for the Peyton Walker Foundation 4 Mile City Project
o The goal of the 4-Minute City project is to strategically deploy intelligent connected AED technology and cardiac arrest response platform reducing time to defibrillation.
· $323,381 for the Shippensburg University Foundation
o The Shippensburg University Foundation will acquire lab equipment to address a strategic problem and the need for up-to-date lab equipment in the Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Engineering labs at Shippensburg University (SU).

Cumberland County had 10 additional projects awarded by the LSA Local Share Account grants, totaling another $4,181,230, bringing the total investment into Cumberland County at $5,638,917.
The Statewide Local Share Account is funded through the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 2004-71), as amended, which provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) to support projects in the public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
