Back to list December 16, 2015 Carlisle and Harrisburg mayors announce bus route between the two locations CARLISLE — Carlisle Mayor Tim Scott and Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse held a joint news conference Tuesday morning to announce a new bus route between the two cities that could boost regional economic development. According to Joyce Davis, director of communications for the City of Harrisburg, Papenfuse expressed appreciation at the Capital Area Transit for providing a way for Harrisburg residents to reach job sites in the Allen Road Warehouse area of Carlisle. The new Route C – Allen Road Warehouses will help connect Harrisburg residents to jobs in the Allen Road warehouse area of Carlisle. Local stops will include the courthouse, Carlisle Regional Medical Center, Bosler Memorial Library, Carlisle borough office, Cumberland County Career Link, the United Way, Exel, Allen Distribution, Ross Stores, Ames True Temper and the Amazon warehouse. “This is an exciting opportunity to stimulate economic development in the region and help our residents get to well-paying jobs with Amazon and other companies in Carlisle,” Papenfuse said. Papenfuse and Scott praised CAT for its efforts to serve the region and its people during the conference. “We’ve got the jobs and Harrisburg has the workers,” Scott said. Davis said Scott noted “the new bus route is a clear sign of increased regional cooperation to benefit both business and workers.” “These new locations along Allen Road will positively impact both the centers looking to hire new employees and people looking for work who do not have access to a vehicle and need public transportation to get to work,” said Jonathan Bowser, CEO of Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation.
