Back to list June 08, 2015 JLG acquires UK-based Power Towers Ltd. JLG Industries Inc. acquired Power Towers Ltd., a leading low-level access equipment manufacturer based in Leicester, England. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. An Oshkosh Corp. company, JLG makes telehandlers and lifts at its factory in Southampton Township, Cumberland County, as well as in McConnellsburg, Fulton County. JLG said the acquisition is not expected to affect local operations in the short term. “For now, we intend to manufacture the Power Towers portfolio only in the U.K.,” Paul Kreutzwiser, global category director of scissors/verticals for JLG Industries, wrote in an email. “However, we will evaluate adding new production locations as necessary to most effectively serve our customers.” Founded in 2007, Power Towers specializes in the engineering and manufacturing of low-level access products, a news release said. Power Towers currently offers seven lift models, both self-propelled and push-around, that are rated for indoor and, in some cases, outdoor use. The company employs about 30 people, all of whom will be retained through the acquisition. “We are excited to be joining JLG,” said Brian King, managing director of Power Towers. “It gives Power Towers the opportunity to realize its manufacturing potential and sales potential via JLG’s network, while staying true to our position as pioneers in the industry.” With the acquisition of Power Towers, JLG expands its low-level access portfolio, which currently includes push-around and self-propelled mast lifts and stock pickers, and the LiftPod line of personal portable lifts. “This important acquisition strengthens our existing portfolio … and demonstrates our commitment to the European market,” Frank Nerenhausen, JLG Industries president, said in the news release. “The addition of Power Towers products and people allows JLG to become an even stronger partner to our customers.” This article was posted on CPBJ.com on June 5, 2015.
