Back to list November 19, 2015 Landing Deloitte could mean greater hospitality growth in Silver Spring Township Securing a commitment from Deloitte not only fills new office space and adds a significant number of jobs in Silver Spring Township, but it also bolsters the argument for greater development along Route 114 toward Interstate 81. “We continue to see that area develop,” said Jonathan Bowser, CEO of the Cumberland Area Economic Development Corp. “As a result, there will be conversations about additional restaurants and hotels in that general area.” Eric Clancy, executive vice president at Delta Development Group Inc., agrees. Delta is the developer of Delta Pointe, a mixed-use commercial park off I-81 and Route 114. “That corridor is prime for development,” he said, citing future interstate expansion. Delta has three office lots seeing activity in the business park, with spring 2016 expected to be busy. Adding a hotel and restaurant is the next big goal, Clancy said. There have been inquiries, but no one wants to be out there alone, he said. Engineering firm Gatter & Diehl Inc. is the lone Delta Pointe tenant. Getting more active tenants in the development will help, as will the activity at the Deloitte site. On the flip side, Bowser said, a short-term challenge could be filling vacant offices in East Pennsboro Township. With Deloitte relocating some regional employees to downtown Harrisburg and Silver Spring Township and Rite Aid Corp.’s administrative offices potentially being vacated in the deal with Walgreens, there will likely be existing space to fill in East Pennsboro. “Long term, it’s a good area for office space,” Bowser said. “These are attractive locations close to a lot of households. I think it will be OK.” View the article from the CPBJ.com here.
