Carlisle, Pa (July 9, 2025) –
On Tuesday evening, REC officials were notified of a fire at Building #2 at the former Frog, Switch property along High Street in Carlisle. Fire officials contained the flames within an hour of being alerted and no injuries were reported. We want to thank the fire companies and emergency responders for their quick response and actions to put out the fire.
Building #2, which is referred to as the Frog Shop, is still standing, but the full damage will be assessed on Wednesday. The Pennsylvania State Police and local Fire Department will be investigating the cause of the fire, which is currently unknown.
Frog, Switch Manufacturing Company operated in Carlisle for over 125 years before closing in 2023. The Real Estate Collaborative (REC), a subsidiary of the Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation, officially acquired the property in late May of this year for future redevelopment and reuse.
REC Officials warn the public that site preparation activities are happening every day at the site. Those without permission to be on site should stay away. Trespassers are violating the law and will be reported.
