CAEDC Seeks Interested Parties for Board of Directors Vacancies – Deadline Extended

MECHANICSBURG, PA (January 20, 2026) –

The Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation (CAEDC) seeks a county resident or person employed by a business in Cumberland County who would be interested in serving on the CAEDC Board of Directors. CAEDC is looking for community-minded candidates working in the Agriculture, Outdoor Recreation or Hospitality Industry to fill two vacant positions.

The Board of Directors includes the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and 11 additional Directors that are tasked with evaluating day-to-day operations. Board Members contribute to board meetings, provide input on strategic decisions, and support the organization’s mission.

Board service requires attendance at monthly meetings, participation on a CAEDC committee, and attendance at CAEDC-sponsored events.

Criteria for consideration:

• Knowledge of nonprofit corporations, including governance and organizational development issues.
• Professional experience or demonstrated interest in one or more of the following sectors:
  • Outdoor Recreation (parks, trails, outdoor tourism, recreational facilities)
  • Agriculture (farming, agribusiness, agricultural tourism)
  • Business Ownership/Operation (entrepreneurship, small business management)
  • Hospitality Industries (hotels, restaurants, tourism services)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
• Passion for community and economic development.
• Previous board or leadership experience a plus.

Candidates will service from February 2026 until February 2029. The Board of Directors meetings are held every 4th Tuesday of the month from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.

The Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation (CAEDC) is an independent, county-chartered 501(c)3 non-profit corporation responsible for providing economic development and tourism promotion services to Cumberland Valley, which includes Cumberland County and the Southcentral Pennsylvania region. The corporation is led by an executive director who reports to the board of directors. Members of the board of directors are appointed by the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners.
