CAEDC Works With Area Chambers of Commerce

Since its founding in 2005, CAEDC has prioritized working with our partners throughout Cumberland Valley to promote economic development, drive growth, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for residents. Along the way, we have been supported by the area Chambers of Commerce – Carlisle, West Shore, Mechanicsburg, and Shippensburg. From sharing resources and attending ribbon cuttings to sponsoring and hosting business networking events and workshops, CAEDC has worked with these four important local organizations to advocate for the Cumberland Valley to ensure economic prosperity for the region.

Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Michelle Crowley said “Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation is the strong cog in the wheel that keeps businesses moving in Cumberland County.  The four Chambers that serve Cumberland County also support that cog to keep us moving forward – and with that level of support, I know that all of the organizations strive to do all that they can to make sure that our thrives by having a diverse balance of career opportunities that allow those that choose to live and work here, a wonderful quality of life. “

From the small local shops or restaurants to large manufacturing facilities or new hotels and tourism assets, CAEDC and the Chambers continue work in close alliance to ensure that we are focused on the same goals and strategies to move our communities forward.

“We are so happy to have an organization like CAEDC that is invested in our County, our communities, and our businesses.  They support our Chamber of Commerce and partner with us to provide resources for our members” said West Shore Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, George Book.

All four Chamber Directors/Presidents sit on the CAEDC board and several CAEDC staff members represent CAEDC at Chamber board and committee meetings.

Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Jeff Palm said “The Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation has been a fine resource for the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce.  This is especially seen in compiling and providing statistical and demographic information for those companies looking to move into the area and also for visitors who consider to add Mechanicsburg and Cumberland County to their travel plans.  CAEDC has also been a key conduit in assisting the Mechanicsburg Chamber and its members in providing emergency funding in efforts to offset the difficulties of the COVID 19 pandemic and restrictions.  Without a cooperation between the two organizations, the enormity of the task in deciphering what is available and how to access it would be detrimental to the many small businesses of our area.”

CAEDC Interim Executive Administrator, Gary Scicchitano added “The partnership with our Chambers is incredibly important to our mission to enhance Cumberland County, through workforce development, business retention and expansion, tourism marketing, and overall quality of life. Each chamber provides their local community with resources to help them grow, as well as provide CAEDC with insights needed to be an effective organization.”
