Mechanicsburg, PA –
Recently, the Pennsylvania Governor’s office announced the approval of Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant funding throughout the Commonwealth, and five of those are projects from Cumberland County, totaling $3,850,000.
The approved projects include:
Camp Hill Downtown Development – $500,000
The project will convert a former business on Market Street into a full-service, licensed restaurant, with a complete interior renovation and upgraded electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and kitchen systems.
This grant was supported by Representative Nate Davidson.
Representative Davidson stated “Investing in our main streets is a top priority, and this RACP commitment from the Shapiro administration will benefit the residents of Camp Hill and Cumberland County for years to come. I am proud to support projects like this that contribute to the long term vision of local communities, and keep central PA a great place to live, start a business, and raise a family.”
The Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation (CAEDC) through its partnership with the Cumberland County Industrial Development Authority (CCIDA) assisted with the application process for the Camp Hill Downtown Development project.
CAEDC Economic Development Director, Greg Welker added “Downtown Camp Hill continues to attract reinvestment, and this project is a great example. CAEDC, working alongside Cumberland County Industrial Development Authority, supported this application because it strengthens the borough’s business district. We thank Representative Davidson for championing this RACP commitment.”
Carlisle Community Improvements (CCI) Destination Improvements – $1,000,000
This project will renovate CCI’s Carlisle Country Club’s clubhouse and add new amenities, funded through a RACP award covering design and construction costs.
Goddard School Renovation – $600,000
This project will expand the facility to create a state-of-the-art childcare and early education space, adding a teachers’ lounge, gym, sensory room, STEM room, new pre-K classroom, and outdoor learning areas.
Mechanicsburg Volunteer Fire Department – $1,250,000
This project will construct a new fire station on South York Street in Mechanicsburg Borough, on a parcel formed by consolidating five purchased lots.
West Shore Christian Academy Athletic & Community Center – $500,000
This project will fund construction of a new gymnasium, athletic fields, and a covered walkway for the West Shore Christian Academy Athletic & Community Center.
The RACP is a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity. RACP projects are state-funded projects that cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
