Online pet food retailer looking to expand Cumberland County workforce

Chewy.com, a Florida-based online pet-food retailer, is looking to grow its midstate workforce after adding to its distribution footprint in Silver Spring Township.

In January, the township approved a 176,000-square-foot expansion to the company’s facility at 40 Dauphin Drive, pushing the e-commerce distribution center to 616,011 square feet.

The facility is owned by Montgomery County-based Exeter Property Group.

Bobby Angelo, the retailer’s recruiting manager, said there are currently about 650 local employees. The goal is to have 800 to 1,000, he said.

The company is recruiting for a variety of positions, including senior operations manager and operations supervisor, along with a host of other positions between Cumberland County and its Fort Lauderdale headquarters.

Chewy.com also is scouting distribution locations in other states to continue its national expansion, Angelo said.
