Project Description
CAEDC worked with Classic Drycleaners & Laundromats to secure a $200,000 loan through the PA Industrial Development Authority for energy-efficient upgrades to their machines at the Carlisle location. Upgrades included replacing their four dry cleaning machines, replacing all the coin operated washers and dryers, replacing three shirt laundry units, and adding automated assembly and bagging.
Classic Drycleaners is a long-standing, family-owned business in the area with 9 dry cleaning stores, 5 laundromats, a textile & electronics restoration division, and free pick-up and delivery service. These improvements will lower costs and allow Classic to increase their wages which will strengthen employee retention and increase the quality and quantity of applicants in the hiring process.
“CAEDC was happy to work with Paula and John Gribble and assist this 45-year-old business become greener, lower operating costs and strengthen its employee base,” said Laura Potthoff, CAEDC Business Retention & Finance Manager.
Due to the energy-efficient upgrades, the Classic team was able to achieve another success through a rebate program with UGI Utilities. UGI presented a rebate check for $54,600 to Classic for the energy-efficiency improvements made to their facility. The rebate is part of UGI’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) program, and this project was the first commercial project completed under the Gas EE&C program.
