Founded in 2008 by two master electricians – Doug and his business partner, Rock Forry – DeRock Electric started as a home-based operation before making strategic moves to downtown Carlisle and later settling into a spacious 6-1/2-acre complex on Forge Road. In that time, the company has grown into a first-class commercial, industrial, and residential contractor, with 40 full-time employees, including eight master electrician license holders.
Discussing the challenges of the competitive construction market, Doug emphasized the significance of smaller jobs in maintaining a healthy profit margin. While large projects provide stability in scheduling, the company has found that the profitability of smaller jobs is crucial for long-term sustainability. The company’s ability to serve both small and large clients has proven to be a successful approach to business.
DeRock Electric primarily operates in Cumberland County and York County, where it has established a strong foothold. Despite facing stiff competition, the firm has managed to secure a significant portion of its business from the southcentral Pennsylvania region as well as northern Maryland.
In line with their commitment to excellence, DeRock Electric places a strong emphasis on employee education and training.
