Back to list January 08, 2015 Hundreds of full-time jobs to come at new Amazon fulfillment center Amazon has opened its new 700,000-square-foot fulfillment center on 2 Ames Drive in South Middleton Township, the online shopping company said in a news release Tuesday. Amazon representatives would not specify the date the fulfillment center opened or the exact number of employees that would be hired. Amazon said it is hiring “hundreds” of full-time workers to pack and pick customer orders in its centers in the Carlisle area, the release said. The South Middleton fulfillment center shipped its first product order in October — a home-brewing beer kit to a customer at a U.S. Naval Air Base overseas, the release said. Amazon also donated $5,000 to the Carlisle detachment of the Marine Corps League to commemorate the opening shipment. In September, Amazon said the fulfillment center would be used for the storage of large items, including kayaks and televisions.
