Project Timeline
August 2023: REC executes a letter of intent with Frog Switch to acquire the property and remediate and reposition it for redevelopment.
December 2023: Carlisle Borough Council adopted an ordinance amending the zoning map for the Frog, Switch & Manufacturing Co. tract from General Industrial to Urban Mixed Use. The mixed-use zoning is similar to the zoning for the adjacent land in North Middleton Township and allows a broader range of land uses, including residential, non-residential, and open space. March 2024: REC awarded $94,389 from Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s LSA Category 4 funds for demolition, engineering, and administrative costs associated with demolition at the Frog Switch plant.
August 2024: REC signs a sales agreement to acquire the former Frog Switch property.
May 7, 2025: REC awarded $10 million from PA SITES to prepare former Frog, Switch & Manufacturing industrial site for new development.
May 29, 2025: REC closes on the site, officially acquiring the Frog Switch property.
July 8, 2025: Accidental fire at the Frog Switch site.

July 16, 2025: Removal of a crane trolley in one of the buildings featuring 60-foot ceilings.
