Workforce Development

Without a strong workforce, a business has very little chance of competing in the growing global economy. In order to keep Cumberland County businesses competitive and continue to have one of the most skilled workforces in Pennsylvania, CAEDC has a number of regional partners that offer workforce development services to meet the needs of employers and employees. From customizable training to certifications, workforce development opportunities are available for any size business.

Transportation & Capital Area Transit (CAT)
In 2015, CAEDC partnered with the Allen Road Distribution Centers in Carlisle and CAT to create new stops for employees traveling from Harrisburg to the centers for work. View the map with stops here.

South Central Workforce Investment Board (SCWIB)
The South Central Workforce Investment Board is responsible for addressing employer and worker needs by developing partnerships and coordinating resources that provide training, education and employment opportunities for employers and workers in the South Central Pennsylvania Region (Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Lebanon, Perry and York counties).

PA CareerLink of Cumberland County
PA CareerLink is the link connecting businesses with potential employees. PA CareerLink offers employers the opportunity to advertise their job openings throughout the state, recruit employees and conduct training. Potential employees are provided vocational testing, assistance in finding child care, transportation need assistance and a resource to submitting resumes to the PA CareerLink JobGateway database.

Workforce and Economic Development Network (WEDnetPA)
The Workforce and Economic Development Network of Pennsylvania (WEDnetPA) brings training funds to qualified companies across the Commonwealth through a network of community colleges, state system universities and other educational institutions. The goal of WEDnetPA is to strengthen the business environment of the Commonwealth by helping companies improve the skills and productivity of Pennsylvania workers. Funding for this program is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) through its Pennsylvania First fund.
