The Cumberland County Commissioners have proclaimed March “Cumberland County Shop Local Month” to encourage shopping at Cumberland County retail stores.
The Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation (CAEDC) are promoting Shop Local throughout the month of March in conjunction with Carlisle, Mechanicsburg, Shippensburg and West Shore Chambers of Commerce.
“The retail industry has suffered significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and this campaign will aim to create awareness for the many small shops in the county” said CAEDC CEO, Jamie Keener.
According to the National Retail Federation, 25% of jobs in Pennsylvania are supported by the retail industry and provides $141.7 billion in total impact to the GDP.
The campaign will showcase Cumberland County’s shops through social media, blog content and other media outlets.
Patrons can download a checklist for more ways to support shops in our region, which can be found here. Shoppers are encouraged to use #CVShops to show their support and their purchases.
#CVShops follows our February campaign #CVEats, which promoted Cumberland Valley’s restaurant industry.
