Field & Steam store one step closer to opening at the Capital City Mall

LOWER ALLEN TOWNSHIP – Lower Allen Township commissioners Monday night reviewed plans for a Field & Stream outdoor store at the Capital City Mall and could approve the new retail facility at their Sept. 8 meeting. Field & Stream would be built on what now is the site of the Toys ‘R’ Us store that moved to the Carlisle Pike in Hampden Township about two years ago. That store would be demolished and the outdoor store would be built on the site. Around 50,000 square feet, it is slightly larger than the former toy store. The commissioners were told it would have about the same footprint as the toy store and would have less of a stormwater impact because some of the parking area around the store will be replaced by landscape islands. The township planning commission has recommended approval of the plan.

The Field & Stream chain is owned by DICK’S Sporting Goods and is not associated with Field & Stream Magazine. It now has stores in Cranberry Township and Erie in Pennsylvania.

The store will offer an assortment of outdoor equipment, accessories and services in hunting, fishing, archery, camping and more.
