Back to list September 05, 2014 Harrisburg-Carlisle region exports reach $3B in 2013 Merchandise exports rose 5 percent to a record $3 billion last year in the Harrisburg-Carlisle metropolitan area, according to new export data from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration. Harrisburg-Carlisle was one of 156 metro areas in the U.S. to export more than $1 billion in merchandise last year. It was also one of 134 area to reach record export levels. Key merchandise export categories for the Harrisburg-Carlisle area last year included computer and electronic products, processed foods, machinery, chemicals and electrical equipment.
